REIS Six
A Rest Easy Interstate Services (REIS)-owned arcology in Knight City. Written as “REIS Six,” though pronounced “Reese Six” in conversation — “Reese” is just the spoken form of the REIS initialism. Effectively a city within a city: miles wide, not just a single tower, laced with its own internal roads across many numbered sections and levels.
Overview
REIS Six rises from the cloud deck near its top — chrome and glass softened by gardens and terraced farms up high — down through stained service corridors and rusted parking structures near the bottom, with the felt weight of the wider city returning as you descend. Iona Glass’s office sits near the top, above the clouds. Mara Sato both lived and worked here, in Section 34, though she was also known to frequent Section 36 — which turned out to be her last tracked position before going dark.
Known Facts
- REIS-owned; internally organized into numbered sections (at least 31 through 36 confirmed) and many vertical levels.
- Has its own internal train system (privately operated, paid access) used for staff commutes.
- Connects downward toward sub-basement levels and, eventually, the Switchback and the Under Sector.
- Its internal roads are split by access barriers. Some are just toll gates. Others, marked by signs separating ordinary traffic from “REIS executive access,” keep people out of the nicer districts. Bullfrog: “Oh my God, it’s a cyber gated community.”
- Behind one of those barriers is an upscale mid-rise district with shops on the first four floors and high-rise apartments above, standalone parking garages, and plenty of street vendors and sit-down restaurants. It’s where the ramen shop at Cross and Angle is. Real seafood is served higher up still.
- Policed. Officers reached the ramen-shop firefight within minutes in Session 3.
- A few miles outside it, down the highway, is an abandoned Van Life rest stop.
Appearances
- Session 1 — Primary setting: Iona Glass’s office, Mara Sato’s home/workplace, and the site of the crew’s investigation.
- Session 2 — The parking-garage handoff of Mara Sato to Iona Glass.
- Session 3 — The crew tails Iona’s convoy through an executive-access barrier into an upscale district, takes Mara back at a ramen shop, and escapes out of the arcology.
